Comments: Beige threadgoldite filling cracks in, and coating, black uraninite. Schumacher Collection.
Location: Kobokobo Pegmatite, Lusungu River District, Kivu, Congo (Zaïre). Scale: Picture size 5 mm.

Trinitite:  
Lechatelierite: SiO2

Comments: Fused silica sand (trinitite) generated by the first nuclear (fission) bomb. Although man-made and not a valid mineral, the specimen has historic value.
Location: Trinity Flats, White Sands, New Mexico. It came into existance at 5:29 a.m., July 16, 1945. Scale: Specimen size 4.1 cm.

Comments: Green, acicular crystals of ulrichite on matrix. Co-type specimen (?) collected by the discoverer, Anthony Fraser.
Location: Lake Boga granite quarry, Lake Boga, Victoria, Australia. Scale: Picture size 2 mm.

Comments: Thin encrustions of urampite on a fracture surface in sub-bituminous coal.

Comments: Sharp, cubic crystals of black uraninite on yellow uranophane.
Location: Teofilo Otoni, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Scale: Picture size 1.5 mm.

Comments: Polished slab of black "gummite" ore with the uraninite altering to various secondary uranium minerals in a brecciated matrix.

Comments: Black uraninite impregnating coaly wood fragments. You can see the woody structure in detail preserved in the uraninite.

Uranocircite: Ba(UO2)2(PO4)2·12(H2O)  
Phosphuranylite: KCa(H3O)3(UO2)7(PO4)4O4·8(H2O)

Comments: Yellow, waxy phosphuranylite with green uranocircite in matrix.
Location: Bergen, Falkenstein, Vogtland, Saxony, Germany. Scale: Picture size 0.5 cm.

Uranocircite: Ba(UO2)2(PO4)2·12(H2O)  
Metauranocircite: Ba(UO2)2(PO4)2·6-8(H2O)

Comments: Crystal fragment of uranocircite fracturing due to dehydration to meta-uranocircite. The most common are 100 and 010 fractures, with 110 close behind. But notice the 210 and 410 fractures (breaks) as well.

Comments: Bright yellow crystals of metavanuralite. Unless sealed in glass, all specimens of vanuralite change to metavanuralite.
